Summer Summer Summer

Holy crap! It's freaking hot outside! Isn't it great?

These days are quite leisurely for me. Work has cut back hours quite a bitand I'm too happy to complain. Being broke just isn't bad enough to ruin free time during fabulous weather!

This weekend is the Pride parade and I'm super stoked to go. Also, on Saturday, Dad and I are meeting up with Sunshine and a few other people to see Jesse Cook in concert in Oakville. It's gonna be swell! ^_^

The house is undergoing tons of projects at the moment. there are constantly contractors popping in and out and the phone is ringing off the hook. This is by far the most productive summer ever for our family. By the end, our property will be in tip top shape!

Holy crap!

My mum is flying to South America on Saturday! This is a business trip that came up a little last-minute. She will be landing in Argentina, then making her way to Chile and Uruguay. She'll be back in 2 weeks. Lucky duck! Now she'll have a chance to practice her Spanish, eh? hehe!

[Ok, ok, so the picture is of Peru. Mum won't be there. But still, breathtaking, eh? I'd love to see Machu Picchu someday!]

I just love Summer. The fresh air, the warm breeze, the singing birds... Ahhhh! Just a few bits of news, not much.

- The basement is now stripped bare. No more ugly fake-wood wall panels. No more carpet. No more ceiling panels. No more insulation (it's FREEZING down there! lol). It's fabulous. In a couple of weeks, the basement people will come and give it a makeover. SWEET!

- The pool fence finally arrived. (FINALLY! Home Depot can go to hell!) That will be the next big job. Once that's up, we can finish the deck. Woot!

- Only 7 more weeks of work. But who's counting?

- My sweetheart gave me a sewing machine! I've already tried it out and it is FAB-U-LOUS!!! I have so many insane and maniacal plans brewing for what I'd like to make with it... I think I'll start with totes, cushions and aprons... and work my way up eventually to real clothes. AHHHH all I need now is to find a fabric store that sells organic cotton. Any suggestions?

Holy cannoli! Where the frack did May go? @_@

- a week with my sweetie in Montreal was SO much fun!! One of the best parts was seeing "Up" and laughing and crying all throughout. What an amazing movie! Also, I LOVE inexpensive vintage clothing stores, and tasty vegetarian restaurants. WOOT!

- Auntie Anne is awake, recovering, moved from ICU to a hospital close to her home. She has made an INCREDIBLE comeback, after an aneurysm AND a stroke. She is already talking and maybe soon she'll be back on her feet! Everyone is so relieved.

- I am paying my tuition fees at the moment, which means... I am a full-time student again! Officially! Also, I have NO money left! haha. Going to have to be a bit ... thrifty... over the upcoming months (which is interesting when I am paying from my pocket for acupuncture and other treatments). Ugh, education is so bloody expensive!

- We (family) will be starting hardcore demolition of our basement very shortly. First we will empty it, then destroy it, then let this company totally re-do it (beautifully), then we will put things back :-) Everything should be done by the end of July.

- The pool deck is still coming along. Dad took next week off (and I will help when I'm not working) to put in the fence and some more deck boards. Looking fab!
